Client security overview

To a typical web user, web surfing may seem very safe, however, it's not. A web browser can be attacked in a number of malicious ways, such as browser hijacking, malicious ActiveX controls, and jpg exploits. Many of these techniques can be used to run malicious code on a user's computer. In addition, the end user and the web administration need to be concerned about the confidentiality of the data that they transmit - someone may be listening. Web users need to be cognizant of security updates from the operation system provider to ensure they are using the latest version of the intended software that has all know vulnerabilities patched. There are many websites which check to ensure the user has the latest browser with all known security patches.
